As amazing as Glass is, there are some fairly significant limitations to what it can do currently. The most noticeable of which is that the device can only update your location every 10 minutes. This effectively means that Glass would be useless for any location-based applications such as augmented reality apps, or that Glass port of Ingress we’re all hoping for.
Apparently though, Glass has a lot more capabilities than are exposed in the official API. Programmer Lance Nanek managed to push an Android application to his Glass unit that printed out a list of sensors and he uncovered the following:
- MPL Gyroscope
- MPL Accelerometer
- MPL Magnetic Field
- MPL Orientation
- MPL Rotation Vector
- MPL Linear Acceleration
- MPL Gravity
- LTR-506ALS Light sensor
- Rotation Vector Sensor
- Gravity Sensor
- Linear Acceleration Sensor
- Orientation Sensor
- Corrected Gyroscope Sensor
Additionally, Glass can pickup your location using GPS as well as network and passive providers. Even if Google doesn’t open up the API to allow full use of Glass’ sensors, chances are some enterprising developer will make it happen for us anyway.
since it is now rooted i think devs can use those sensors, but imagin people playing games just with glass ;P
