After launching the Amazon Android App Store in over 200 more countries last night – including Australia – Amazon has just announced that the Kindle Fire HD is now available for pre-order in over 170 countries and again, Australia is included. Shipping on June 13, the Kindle Fire HD is also offering access to all of the apps, games, books, audiobooks and magazines, including more than 300,000 books available through Amazon.
There are four models on offer with options of 16GB or 32GB storage on both the 7″ and 8.9″ Kindle Fire models. The Kindle Fire HD 7″ has the 16GB available for $214 while the 32GB will cost $244. The Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ 16GB is available for $284, while the 32GB version will cost $319.
There are two options for shipping the device Expedited Shipping (8-16 Business Days) will cost $11.98 or you can select Amazon Global Priority Shipping (2-5 days) for $20.98, an incredible price for shipping from the US especially when considering the price that Google charge for deliveries from the Play Store that are shipped from Hong Kong.

The Kindle Fire HD includes a 1-year limited warranty and ships with a micro-USB cable for charging. Additonal accessories such as a wall charger are being offered for $9.99 at checkout as well as a range of cases.
The local Kindle retailers, Dick Smith and Big W do not currently have the Kindle Fire on their website but we will be checking with them tomorrow to see if they will be adding them to their range.
There is no mention of access to the Amazon Prime service which in the US delivers access to Movies and TV shows on demand, and it appears we still cannot access the Amazon MP3 store, but this is a move in the right direction. Head over to the International Amazon Kindle Store website to check out what is on offer and place your order.
The 7 is pointless when you could have a nexus 7 for a tiny bit more, but the 8.9 at least shines another light on Samsung’s lacklustre larger tablets.
Ive got a feeling we might see a amazon.com.au soon. Amazons really pushing its way into Aus lately.
Would be good if we could get alot the stuff off amazon delivered here. But hopefully they dont block off the US and UK sites if they do.
