Google is looking for beta testers to try out new products

If you’re a fan of Google and want to help them trial new products, Google is looking for people to sign up to their ‘Google User Experience Research Program’.

Given the range of products that Google create, ranging from services to software and hardware, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get to try out the latest Nexus device, Google has given a quick rundown on what the program is for :

You’d be helping us to improve Google products, both existing ones and those that are still in development. For example, we might ask you to try out a prototype and give us feedback on it, or we might interview you to help us plan a new product.

You’ll need to be over 18 years of age to sign up for the program, but you won’t actually need to live near a Google Office to participate, instead Google may actually get you to give feedback remotely from your computer. For the usability studies, you’ll need to allow for up to an hour and a half to interact with a Google researcher plus travel time, which if you’re going to a Google Office will be between 9am-6pm although remote sessions may be held outside of business hours.

Travel costs to and from Google offices are not covered, but as compensation for your time, Google will offer you a token of appreciation, in the form of a gift card or donation to your chosen charity for participating in a study – note: you get nothing for just signing up.

There’s no guarantee that you’ll be selected for the studies, and even if you’re not a user of Google services, they would still like to hear from you.
