ASUS has just announced a clever new keyboard for your Android tablet called the TransKeyboard. It folds flat when not in use, and is easily popped into a bag for carrying with your tablet, as it’s only one centimetre high when folded and weighs 246 grams.
When opened it reveals a full 26 cm QWERTY keyboard with wrist rest, and a very neat flexible folding lid that transforms into a structure to support any tablet or phone up to 10″. Magnets hold the folded lid in place, and it connects to your tablet via Bluetooth 3.0.
The TransKeyboard charges via a standard micro USB port, and the cover is lined with microfibre to prevent scratching your device. Specifications are:
- Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity
- Supports Android 4.2 and above plus Windows 8
- Dimensions – 26(L) x 13(W) x 1(H) cm
- 246 grams
- Colour: Black
- Contents: Quick Start Guide, TransKeyboard, Micro USB cable
There has been no word from ASUS about when it will be available or pricing, but you can have a closer look at the official ASUS TransKeyboard page here.

So Asus are doing a Windows 8 BT keyboard and not a pure Android one.
Added to that, this keyboard requires Android 4.2 at minimum, saying F-you to Android users running JB 4.1.2 or earlier.
Real nice of them, not.
