Following the announcement of the Xperia E1, Sony has also announced two further devices, the Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. Sony has squarely aimed the Xperia T2 lineup at developing markets, wanting to bring them a large-screen device with LTE at an affordable price.
Feature-wise, the Xperia T2 Ultra and T2 Ultra Dual are the same, including:
- 6″ HD display at 720p
- 13 MP camera with Exmor RS and 1.1 MP front facing camera
- Snapdragon quad-core 1.4 GHz processor
- 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage
- 3,000 mAh battery
The only distinction between the two models is the T2 Ultra Dual features a dual-SIM arrangement, allowing easy switching between the two services, and keeping both SIMs active so as to never miss a call.
Sony has focused on the entertainment and photography aspects in this line, with a large HD display to make the most of entertainment on the go. Paired with power efficient processors and Sony’s Battery STAMINA mode, and a whopping 3,000 mAh battery, it’s likely that the Xperia T2 Ultra will last all day and then some.
In terms of photography, the Xperia T2 Ultra range brings together Sony’s prowess in digital imaging with social features allowing users to get the most from their devices. The T2 Ultra incorporates features such as retouching portraits to make them more life-like, easy creation of collages and defocused images, timeshift burst mode and easy sweep panoramas.
Again, local availability is TBA, but it’s likely that the Xperia T2 Ultra range will arrive in Australia soon.
If it’s a budget phone, then it’s a nice budget phone.
