The OnePlus One is being revealed officially one small feature at a time, and although their Quarter 2 launch date is fast approaching, a new leak has shown off probably a little more than they were planning to show just yet.
The annotations to the sketch indicate that the body will be made of a combination of injection moulded poly-carbonate fitted to a CNC(computer numerical control) machined Aluminium Unibody frame. The location of the power button seems to be similar to the Xperia line of phones, with the power button mounted in the centre on the right-hand side of the body, but no volume rocker is shown on the sketch.
Features relating to sound do appear to be in the sketch however. There appears to be a wide section of machined holes at the bottom of the unit indicating a similar speaker setup to the Nexus 5 – although hopefully a stereo speaker design on the OnePlus One. Also shown is what appears to be a 3.5mm headphone jack mounted in the centre of the phone on the top edge.
The rear camera module, flash and OnePlus logo, will all be mounted in a single strip down the centre of the rear panel, leaving the rest of the rear seemingly quite blank.
There does seem to be very little bezel on the phone, which seems to be how OnePlus intends to fit a 5.5″ FullHD screen into a body which is smaller than that of the Xperia Z1, that OnePlus showed off recently in a photo explaining that the OnePlus One was hiding beneath, which tells us that the One will be smaller than the 144×74 mm dimensions of the Z1.
The only lead time we have for the OnePlus One announcement is that it will arrive in Q2. Although with a new phone company it’s definitely possible that the launch could be pushed back, but we hope it isn’t, because we all would like to see what this phone will look like and what specs it will contain.
