Dan’s going to get inked to raise money for Ausdroid Community Foundation

It’s been a little while since we’ve talked about the Ausdroid Community Foundation, and it’s high time we did again. For those who aren’t familiar, you might be wondering what is the ACF, and why does Ausdroid have a charitable fund.

We love what we do, and reporting on the latest in technology, particularly the Android space, keeps us pretty busy. However, we like to do a bit for the community as well, and the ACF is our vessel for doing so. A general purpose community fund, we’re presently partnering with the Eli Hayes Healey Foundation to work with the families of seriously ill kids in Melbourne to help the families with the costs that pop up with kids in hospital.

In part, you might say, we’re inspired by what we’ve seen happen with Phil and his son Alex over the past twelve months or more, but equally, we’re just motivated to do good things.

This time around, we’d like to raise a little money for ACF, and we’re doing it in a unique way. Put simply, we’d like to raise $500 in donations, and if we reach that target, we’re putting Ausdroid’s Dan Tyson in harms way. That’s right — if we raise the required amount, Dan will be putting his flesh under the needle (quite likely at North Shore Ink in Hornsby) and getting an Ausdroid logo tattooed somewhere, probably his arm. It’s not going to be an enormous tattoo, but not a tiny one either. Think about the size of the palm of your hand.

We’ve also threatened to get him tattooed with the former AusChrome logo if we don’t raise enough … but we think that’s a fairly horrible idea, so please help us make sure this doesn’t happen!

There’s no prizes on offer here; all we’re looking for is donations in exchange for warm fuzzy feelings, and Dan will get inked out of Ausdroid Media’s money — your donations will go to a much more worthy cause than inserting ink into skin. If we receive any major donations, Ausdroid Media might also kick in a small thank you to those donors as well.
