LG has today that they will be launching two of their L Series III phones in Australia in the coming months. The L70 will launch next month, with the L40 following soon after in June.
The L Series III will launch with many of the features that launched in the premium ‘G Series’ phones. Features like:
- KnockCode a feature which allows users to set an unlock pattern using taps on the display. (Shave and a haircut – two bits anybody?)
- Plug and Pop a feature which offers compatible Apps based on accessories plugged into the phone – 3.5mm jack will offer music/podcast apps etc.
- Multipoint Autofocus and Fast Snapshot on the camera which offers a 3×3 9 point auto-focus option. As well, an option to hold the ‘Down’ Volume key which will quickly launch the camera.
The L Series is LG’s budget 3G lineup, so don’t expect any LTE radios on board on these phones, but they do have a great design and some decent specs, which given LG’s history should be delivered at a decent price.

The release with KitKat on-board is a win on the lower end specced handsets, as this is exactly what KitKat was designed for. With the timeframe though, given that KitKat was launched six months ago, it should be expected by default now.
LG will be releasing ‘Quick Window’ covers for the L Series III phones when they launch. The Quick Window covers allow users to get a quick glimpse of caller identity and time without flipping the case open. They also flip nicely around the back of the phone, with the window designed to allow photos to be taken without interrupting the camera.
On the launch of the L40 and L70, Lambro Skropidis, General Manager Marketing at LG Electronics Australia said
Consumers needs and desires have been at the core of the design process for the L SeriesIII, LG’s latest offering . From the inclusion of the Android 4.4 KitKat to the standout design and the suite of LG software features, we are confident we have created great products that our consumers will love.
LG has more releases from the L Series III planned for Australia at the beginning Q3 this year. LG will advise more information on pricing for both phones and quick window covers as well as information on where to buy in the leadup to launch.
