LG announced their Q1 2014 financial results overnight and from the looks of things they’ve had a fairly successful quarter.
From our perspective, we’re interested in the results from the mobile division, known to LG as ‘The LG Mobile Communications Company’. They’ve shared some pretty decent numbers, showing that Smartphone adoption is increasing as are LTE phone sales:
- USD 3.19 billion in Revenue – a 6% increase year over year.
- 75% of their phones sold were smartphones.
- 12.3 million smartphones in the first quarter.
- 5 million were LTE smartphones – the most ever in a single quarter.
Now, importantly LG has advised that they expect better results from next quarter with the release of the LG G3, stating :
Higher revenues are expected in the second quarter with the release of the flagship LG G3 smartphone and wider roll-out of the mass-tier L Series III.
Finally, we saw a look at the rear of the LG G3 just a couple of days ago, but EvLeaks has shown a close-up shot of the rear power key/volume rocker as well as the IR blaster and LED Flash that sit either side.

When it does launch we have seen some specs for the phone. We expect a 5.5″ 2560×1440 resolution display, Qualcomm processor with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board storage with microSD card slot supporting up to 64GB cards. Cameras will be a 16MP rear camera and 2.4MP front-facing camera, and we’re still hoping for OIS. We’re also hoping the rumours of a flatter UI are true too.
Q2 ends at the end of June, so an announcement of the G3 is expected some time between now and then. For the G3 to make any impact on the Q2 2014 financial results it would be expected to be launched in the next month.
Are you waiting for the LG G3
