The Galaxy S5 has been on the market since last month, yet we know that there will eventually be a Galaxy S5 Mini. But after the Galaxy S5 Zoom was renamed to the Galaxy K Zoom, the chances of it being named something quite different increased.
The screenshot below, purportedly from the UK Samsung website, is now circulating the internet shows that this is the case, with the phone actually called the Galaxy S5 Dx.
From the screenshot we can deduce a fair bit about the phone, it will come in the same colours as the full size Galaxy S5 – Shimmer White, and Charcoal Black, Electric Blue and Copper Gold – but with an addition which we’ll call Canary Yellow for now.
Hardware wise, it appears to share the same textured rear battery cover that the Galaxy S5 was launched with, but has no heart rate monitor. It will also apparently be compatible with Samsung’s latest wearables, the Gear 2 (presumably the Gear 2 Neo) and Gear Fit.
Previous leaks around the Galaxy S5 Mini(SM-G800), have rumoured the phone will have a 4.5″ 720×1280 resolution Super AMOLED display, 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Quad-Core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB of on-board storage, 8MP Rear Camera and 2MP Front-Facing Camera and a 2,100mAH battery powering the phone.
There’s no hint of a Samsung event coming, but Samsung has been known to throw together an event quite quickly so that’s nothing to worry about. It’s still strange to see a 4.5″ phone described as ‘Mini’ but it is what it is.
Does the Galaxy S5 Dx interest you?
It does not interest me in the least, as it is a Samsung device, which means it will be nobbled by the crushing weight of the foul bloatware called TouchWiz
