Gameloft’s anticipated first person shooter – Modern Combat 5 – has been leaked to torrent sites just days before its official public release. Gameloft ran a contest which gave winners early access to the game. This early access has backfired however with at least one of the winners uploading the game to multiple torrent sites.
The situation obviously doesn’t sit well with the team at Gameloft who have invested millions of dollars as well as man hours into the new game. On the Modern Combat 4 Hub Facebook page, Florian Weber stated :

Gameloft has released a formal statement in which they state that they will be taking action to lock down any copies of the game which have leaked.
The game officially launches this Thursday, it’s expected to launch on iOS and Android simultaneously, as well as appearing on Windows Phone as well. Based on the pricing of other titles in their range, it’s expected to cost $7.49 at launch.
I’ve bought a couple of Gameloft games and been very disappointed. With most Android games ruined by IAP garbage or broken updates, I’ve basically given up on getting any new games because I will never again install an IAP based app. I’m prefer a one time payment upfront for a known cost to constant small payments without limit. Piracy is too often used as an excuse to attack paying customers by requiring constant internet connections or adding intrusive DRM and now IAP.
