Apple-vs-Android-HD
It’s been a long legal road for Samsung and Apple, with fights escalating all the way to the High Court in Australia, but as of today that is ending with the two companies announcing they have dropped all ongoing litigation between the two companies.

Samsung and Apple have had several stoushes, including the famous case back in 2011 which saw a ‘variant’ of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 sold in Australia after a ruling in the Federal court. The announcement today ends all the ongoing litigation outside the US, which will go ahead at this stage (with up to a billion dollars on the line, Apple is probably wanting that cash). The announcement was made to all media, with Samsung and Apple advising that no further comments are being offered outside this statement :

Samsung and Apple have agreed to drop all litigation between the two companies outside the United States. This agreement does not involve any licensing arrangements, and the companies are continuing to pursue the existing cases in U.S. courts.

We will certainly be watching what happens in the US, but for now, the guns have fallen silent in Australia, how long will this last, who knows?

That’s a shame. Too bad Samsung is getting away with infringing on the iPhone and Apple won’t be compensated for it, outside the US at least.

I don’t use an Apple or Samsung phone but Samsung’s fast-follow strategy is pathetic, especially when they just brazenly copy their competitors rather than out-innovate them.

Oh well, that’s Apple’s choice. I suppose they’re rolling around in money anyway.

Damn.
I never expected to see such a major scale back of the War.
