With an expected announcement early next month, it’s not going to be too long till we see what Motorola has done with the follow up to the Moto X, and also to find out if that Moto X+1 name is going to stay. Even with this looming announcement, we’re still keen for any tidbits of information on the upcoming phone, and today we have two.
Overnight, the Moto X+1 was found in the GFXBench benchmark results, showing under the model # XT1097. The listing is interesting, and raises some questions, mainly to do with the processor, which is listed as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 clocked at 2.5GHz. At this stage, the Snapdragon 800 (8974-AB) is only listed as clocked at 2.36GHz, while the 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 (8974-AC) can be clocked up to 2.45GHz, more closely matching the listed clock speed. Both the Snapdragon 800 and 801 are listed as using the Adreno 330 GPU listed, so its not terribly certain at this point what the story is.
Other specs included are a 5.2¨ FHD (1920×1080) display, 2GB RAM, 10GB Storage, 12MP Rear Camera with AF, Flash and 2MP Front-Facing Camera and the usual array of wireless connectivity such as WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth and GPS.
Software wise, the device is listed with Android 4.4.4, a promising start which is in line with Motorola’s current releases. It should come with similar software additions that the Moto X came with, that anyone who has used the Moto X has come to know and love.
While, benchmarks are fun, we all want to know what the phone will look like, and thanks to helloMotoHK we can. The site appears to have gotten their hands on a front panel from a Moto X+1 and they’ve even shown it against a Moto X for comparison :
As you can see the front panel shows a much larger set of front facing speakers, with the addition of a bottom front speaker, making for a stereo sound setup – Nice. Even with the additional speaker, in the comparison shots, the extra half-inch of screen size doesn’t seem to have made the phone too much larger.
With the scheduled September 4th announcement expected to unveil the Moto X+1, we don’t have too long to wait for the full specs and features to be revealed. Will the phone be released globally this time, instead of the slow rollout we saw with the Moto X? Hopefully not.
Will the Moto X+1 be available globally? Does the additional screen size ruin the form factor?
