Expansys Australia has a free shipping promotion on the Google Play Edition of LG‘s G Pad 8.3 at the moment. You can pick one up for a total cost $244.99, providing you use DHL as the courier.
The Australian G Pad 8.3 (with LG’s customised Android UI) got a lukewarm response from Jason earlier this year, but we’ve seen a few people take them up as their tablet of choice in the last few months. The Google Play Edition version of the tablet should address our software concerns, and Expansys is offering the tablet at a good price. If you’ve been interested in the tablet, perhaps it’s time to pull the trigger.

Interesting, but I’ll hold out for the new Nexus tablet. Hopefully it’s 8-9 inches and made by HTC. That would be superb.
My Nexus 7 (2012) is almost unusable after the most recent OS upgrade, so this is damn tempting…
pull the trigger!
I’d rather a Nexus 7 (2013) for the better quality screen.
So was mine until I did a factory reset. Now it is silky smooth. Not sure what it is about Android, but just like the grand old days of Windows 95, an annual factory reset seems to really speed it up. (Yes I know about TRIM, doesn’t seem to be help.)
Didn’t need or want one. Bought it anyway. Damn you Ausdroid.
Nice work Brad, It will be great to add to your collection.
Great offer… but I can’t justify it when I already have a Nexus 7.
Tempting but I sense buyers remorse once the new (HTC?) Nexus tab comes out
exactly my thoughts, so tempted though
I almost purchased one before the free shipping promotion. The thing that stopped me is the quality of the screen compared to the Nexus 7. It’s less accurate for colour and grayscale reproduction while also being less bright. Bigger isn’t always better.
The link to Jason’s review of the G Pad 8.3 is glitched.
