Alongside the new Moto X and Moto 360, Motorola has also announced the new Moto G – again, the rumoured Moto G2 name was incorrect – with Motorola promising a heap great features, including front-facing stereo sound on a 5″ HD Display.
The new Moto G is promising all day battery life, along with the latest Android OS (which we presume will be updated as regularly as the original). The new Moto G will have a range of colourful new shells to clip to the back to personalise your phone and with a quad-core processor it should be just as snappy as the original.
Motorola have again gone down the 3G only path with the new Moto G, so just as the original saw an updated LTE version later in the product cycle, we will also expect to see this soon. Rather than wait for the LTE version though, Motorola have this time added the microSD card slot straight into the new Moto G, it’s packed full of features including:

The new Moto G will be coming to Australia later this month, it will be selling for an RRP of $269 for the 8GB variant. No specific retailers have been named, but we expect to see retailers carrying the current phone to again stock the new Moto G. If you see any retailers offering the new Moto G, be sure to let us know.
Didn’t I just see that this phone has a US retail of $179.99. Factoring in exchange rate and GST that is still a $50 markup and just under 25%.
Isn’t this mostly the same specs as the current Moto G, just worse screen (same red but bigger) and losing LTE?
Nice of them to give us the third rate stuff from the table straight away, while withholding the good stuff from us till later.
Was that a serious comment or another negative one? The Moto G is in no way third rate.
The Moto X is a Halo Model. We’re not allowed to get that, until Lenovorola deigns to permit it to be sold outside of the US.
The Moto360 is a Halo Model. We’re not allowed to get that, until Lenovorola deigns to permit it to be sold outside of the US.
What they grudgingly permit us to get is the lower spec, not so cool and shiny, 3G only, Moto G.
It’s still not third rate. And the Moto X+1 will be available in Australia. You’re really overreacting.
Awesome. Shame about the screen size, but glad it’s not really affecting the price. Might pick one up. Let us know when/where we can get one
