Motorola has just announced the all new Moto X. Instead of carrying the much rumoured Moto X+1 name, Motorola have instead simply called the phone the new Moto X.
With the tag line: ‘The new Moto X: Pure style. Pure performance’, Motorola will have a lot to live up to, but their previous efforts with the Moto line, have shown they can deliver performance. Syle wise, the new Moto X will have a curved metal frame body with an upsized screen carrying a FullHD resolution, at 5.2″ and 1080P, it’s going to attract some criticism from fans of the original Moto X’s 4.7″ form factor, but it looks to be a good. The Moto X is being released, in the US at least with FSC certified wooden, as well as genuine Horween leather backs, though no mention of the Moto Maker customisation service has been announced.

The Moto X will again feature enhanced voice controls which will learn and adapt to you, allowing you to control your phone and select custom prompts. Running the latest version of Android – 4.4.4 – the new Moto X should see the same update path that previous Moto models
have received.
New Moto X
Avaialability wise, we again seem to be on a bit of a wait for the Moto X, although it seems it won’t be as long as the previous model. The new Moto X will be arriving in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia starting later this month for around $499.99. Closer to home, Motorola Australia advise the phone will be available for purchase later this year, with pricing and timing to be announced closer to the launch.
a 2300mAh battery seems to be a light for 2014. battery life is my main concern with Android and this just doesn’t seem like it’d cut it.
No microSD, no sale.
Nothings ever good enough for you is it? No phone will ever be good enough.
$500 (+Australia Tax) for this, when the Nexus 5 can be had for $379?
‘Tis silly
does the american version work with our networks?
Short answer: no.
yes it does ..if you are with telstra or optus as they have started rolling out 700 MHz 4G network which is standard in USA. Any way it will still work on Australia’s 3G network.
That is incorrect, their 700mhz band is incompatible with our 700mhz band. We use Band 28 700mhz, the US uses Bands 12-17 and are incompatible with our Band 28. So would only be 3G here in Australia. The European & Asian should be ok though and they release at the same time.
You’d like to think 4G networks would have been invented to be made to work universally. Unfortunately not.

According to Whirlpool, main Aus 4G band is B3 (1800Mhz) and B28 (2600Mhz) emerging in 2015. The 3 models of Moto X (2014) all seem to support B3 according to the Motorola website.
And the Verizon version (XT1096) seems to support all our 3G bands.
I would really love a Moto Maker personalized Pure Edition myself. If only someone could confirm it will work on Aus.
