We know they’re coming, HP advised we should be seeing the updated HP Chromebook 11 and Chromebook 14 in the early days of October. Today, HP advised the pricing for the Chromebooks as well as the colour options we’ll be seeing.
The Chromebook 11 will becoming in Snow White (unfortunately no Ocean Turquoise for us), while the Chromebook 14 will be available in Smoke Silver or Sorbet Orange. Both devices will come with 100GB of Google Drive storage valid for two years and carry a $399 price tag, but curiously HP has advised that the price will be from $399 for both models.
HP has made one slight change to the Chromebook 14 spec which we were seeing on the US site, referring to the screen as FHD – usually taken to mean a FullHD 1920×1080 resolution. There’s no acutal specs in their press release beyond confirming the Intel processor for the Chromebook 11 and the NVidia Tegra K1 (no mention of 64-bit) for the Chromebook 14.
For specs you can check these tables (we’ve left the Chromebook 14 as is till we can confirm).

We’re looking forward to these Chromebooks, we’ll update as soon as we can confirm the specifications. We’ve also been enquiring on the LTE/HSPA modem options, it would be wonderful to see an HSPA/LTE enabled Chromebook released on our shores.
Will there be a touchscreen option for the 14″?
Is the 11 inch a IPS display again?
If the Chromebook 14 does in fact come with a FHD res, I’m sold (providing it’s not ridiculously expensive in comparison to other models).
So will the 4GB/32 SSD be available in Australia as well?
We’ve asked for clarification from HP – we’ll update as soon as we know anything. There’s too many options available, I believe you’ll find it will be the 2GB/16GB for $399 then options (if any) the ‘From’ prefix may just refer to the fact that stores can in reality set their won price
Wait. So $399 for both the 2gb and 4gb model??? I don’t get it… What would anyone go for the 2gb model then?
No, I think it’s ‘from $399’ for the base models of both the 11-inch and the 14-inch.
On another note, some people commented on a previous post about these Chromebooks that a 1080p screen on the 14-inch was the only thing missing. Let’s hope that spec change is correct!
