ZTE has unveiled a new 5-inch mid-range device in its mass-market Blade series. The curiously-named Blade S6 (ahem) will be the company’s first Android 5.0 Lollipop device and the first device to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor.
The Blade S6’s other specs are pretty standard for recent Android devices – we’re looking at 2GB of ram, 16GB of storage, 2400 mAh battery with 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras. It’s a 4G LTE device too, though ZTE’s failed to specify the screen resolution. The kicker? It’s going to cost less than US $250 to buy outright – a good deal for price-conscious customers.
While ZTE has released lightly-skinned phones in Australia, the Blade S6 will be running their MiFavor 3.0 OS, which we heard would be coming last year.
Handily, it looks from the specs like the Blade S6 will operate happily on most Australian 3G networks and all but the newest 700/850 Mhz 4G LTE networks.
The Blade S6 will be going on sale February 10 via AliExpress, Amazon and Ebay – you may need to use a freight forwarder to buy from these sites.
We’ve checked in with ZTE Australia to see whether they’re bringing the Blade S6 to Australian shelves and will update when we know more.

I’ve been dealing with capacitive buttons on my Huawei Y320, running JB 4.2.2, and those buttons are frustrating, to put it mildly.
Considered that another manufacturer may deliver a better experience with the same tech Jeni?
No Phil, I hadn’t, as what I am experiencing currently on the Y320, is a continuation of what I had to deal with on my short lived Optus LG P713go L7 II in q3 2013.
