Google has just announced the latest Android Distribution numbers and everyone will be pleased to know that after three months MIA, Android 5.0 has made its first appearance.
Google’s inability to maintain stocks of Nexus 6 phones may have contributed to a low entry point, but at 1.6% it’s a good start. For comparisons sake, KitKat entered the Android Distribution statistics earlier showing up only a month after release into AOSP starting at 1.1%, from which point it’s grown to now be on 39.7% of devices.
The rest of Android has mostly dropped slightly to accommodate the entry of Lollipop, except for Froyo which maintains a 0.4% market share. If you know anyone with a Froyo device, do them a favour and point them towards a phone store who will be happy to get them onto a new device and contract in no time at all.
