If you like the look of the new Samsung Galaxy S6 but don’t quite have the budget for it, then Chinese manufacturer Goophone has your back. Goophone has launched the Goophone S6 for just US$169 which includes free worldwide shipping.
Hardware wise there’s three models on the Goophone website: Goophone S6 Lite, Elite or Pro. The base model starts at US$169 with a Real MTK6572 Dual Core Clocked at 1.0GHz, but for US$40 you can update to a Real MTK6582 Quad Core Clocked at 1.3GHz – this update presumably gets you the higher end Elite model which also has double the RAM (1GB) and a higher end Camera module (8MP Rear/2MP Front). There’s currently no option for the Goophone Elite which will include a Real MTK6592 Octa-Core processor clocked at 1.7GHz and another bump to the camera (3MP Front).
What’s the downside? The phone will show a whole heap of features that actually don’t exist. From the table below you can see certain specs will show up, but the hardware isn’t actually present. The upside is that you can use a memory card in the Goophone S6, something you won’t be able to do with a real Galaxy S6.
The Specs are pretty low-end, but that price is certainly compelling.

The Goophone S6 is available in a similar colour array to the Galaxy S6, with options to purchase in White, Black, Blue and Gold – that’s better options than Samsung is currently offering here in Australia.

I think they’d likely be better than the comprehensively garbage Android phones they’ve flogged over the past several years.
So it doesn’t have the cpu, the gpu, the display, the memory, the storage, the camera, or the network. It’s nothing like an S6 at all, so why is anybody even calling it a knock-off? Is it still April Fool’s Day?
I don’t get why it has ‘real’ then ‘system shows’ on the specs list. They’re advertising that the listed specs in the phone aren’t correct? What’s the point of that? I’d understand if they kept the real specs secret, as they’d want to fool customers, but advertising the real and not real specs??
The problem is the phone itself displays hardware specs that it does not have.
So their info in the specs on the webpage is simply Being Honest about that, and listing what specs the phone does actually have.
Probably better than the actual s6
