We knew its time was limited, but now the time has come; the venerable LG Nexus 5, released around 18 months ago, which ceased production later last year has now been removed for sale from the Google Store.
While the Nexus 5 will undoubtedly continue to receive OS updates for a while, and continue to be supported from Google’s standpoint, the device has reached the point at which its continued sale is no longer viable. For those of you wanting to find a Nexus 5 for sale, local retailers may have a couple still hidden away, or you can head to eBay or Gumtree to see if anyone’s selling one.
The Nexus 5 will be remembered fondly by the Ausdroid team as perhaps one of the better Nexus handsets, and certainly by this writer as the best example of what a Nexus phone could be, standing proudly alongside the original Nexus One.
Yeah… I tweeted you guys about this about a month ago, but got the following snarky response: “It’s been out of stock for months. It’s been removed. Not terribly exciting”. Why the change of heart?
Indeed one of the great ones. Absolutely love my Nexus 5
As a lot of people have said, here’s hoping the 2015 Nexus 5 is released at some point this year. Something based on the LG G4 maybe, with the same price as the much loved original Nexus 5.
A million up-votes for you, mate…
Must be a sign that it’s time to replace my Nexus 5, ordered an S6 this morning 🙂
Unless someone has evidence that the Nexus 5 was still being made after the Nexus 6 was available I don’t know what the fuss is, they were going to run out at some stage….
Still a great phone, and will be for quite some time.
5.1 fixed a lot of woes that the Lollipop update brought. Looking forward to Mud Cake, though the Nexus 5 2015 might sway me to sell my current N5.
