When Sony quietly launched the Xperia Z4 in Japan last month, we were all a little puzzled as to why it had been launched so quietly, and whether it would see a launch in other markets. Well, we’re not any the wiser as to those questions, but it seems as if Sony isn’t quite done with the quiet launches.
We’ve already seen hints at the Xperia Z4 Compact last month as well, but now it appears that we’re about to see a(nother quiet) launch, with Russian website Mobiletelefon reporting that NTT DoCoMo plans to make the Xperia Z4’s little sibling available come 13 May as part of the summer lineup of handsets.
This perhaps doesn’t give us huge hopes of seeing the handset outside Asia (or even outside Japan). Sony has not, as yet, appeared to make any moves to bring the Z4 elsewhere, and with Japan’s NTT DoCoMo likely to take much of the marketing workload for the Z4 Compact, perhaps these handsets are going to be Japan-only for quite some time.
We’re going to get in touch with Sony and see what we can find out. It’d be a crying shame for Sony to keep the Z4 out of Australia.
Any news from Sony AU on this one?
agreed! I have had a z3 since January and I now swear by it! Greatest phone I have had
I thought the z compacts were on a 12monthly cycle.
