OnePlus is, when you look at them, fairly innovative, so it comes as no surprise that the company will be doing something a little different for the launch of the One Plus 2.
The company will be holding the long awaited launch event for the OnePlus 2 on the 27th of July and rather than a limited press-only event, they’ll be doing it virtually using Google Cardboard. There will still be an event, and attendees will include winners of a competition that OnePlus held to create visual stories of the OnePlus One. But for everyone else, the event will be virtual.
Starting at 7pm PT on the 27th of July(12Noon Tuesday, 28 July 2015 AEST), OnePlus would like everyone to don their OnePlus Cardboard headset – a free headset based on Google Cardboard v2.0 and customised to fit the OnePlus One will be made available – most likely in limited quantities – from the Oneplus.net/cardboard page in the future.
The OnePlus 2 will have a Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor, USB-C and be aimed at photographers according to hints from OnePlus. Not much else is known at this stage, but we know they’ll be coming out with more specs and announcements in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
