Samsung’s premium Galaxy Tab S series launched a year ago this month, so in an industry that thrives on a yearly (if not sooner) update cycle, it’s high time we saw an update to the series and if SamMobile is correct, that’s exactly what we’re about to see. As a bonus, they’ve thrown in some information on the lower end Galaxy Tab E series.
According to SamMobile, like the original series the Galaxy Tab S 2 series will come in two screen sizes with both WiFi and LTE/4G models. The two WiFi models are the Galaxy Tab S 2 8.0 (SM-T710) and the Galaxy Tab S 2 9.7 (SM-T810) which will cost €399/€499 respectively. The 4G/LTE version will only comes in one size which is the Galaxy Tab S 2 9.7 (SM-T815) and will have a price tag of €589.
From what SamMobile has said in its post, all three Galaxy Tab S2 tablets will feature a a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and will feature an Exynos 5433 processor, 3GB RAM. Storage wise the tablets will come with 32GB internal storage, but will be backed up with a microSD card slot. The Tab S2 series will of course have Wi-Fi ac/b/g/n and come in a metallic body that is 5.4 mm thin. The only difference will be between the 8-inch and 9.7-inch variants of these tablets is the battery, with the 8″ version coming with a 3,580 mAh while the 9.7″ model will get a 5,870 mAh battery.
The low end tablet, the Galaxy Tab E (SM-T560) is a budget-conscious tablet which will feature a 9.7-inch display and will be priced at €199 internationally. From what we do know, the Galaxy Tab E will run Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box and will also feature a 9.7-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, microSD card slot, and a 5,000 mAh battery. It is expected that the Galaxy Tab E will become available to purchase in Taiwan by the end of the month, however launch dates for the international markets is not known as of now.
We will have to wait and see what and when Samsung will launch the follow up Galaxy Tab S2 line of tablets and if the Galaxy Tab E will become available here.
