Asus has expanded its Zenfone 2 lineup at IFA, announcing 5 new models with something for everyone with an obvious focus on fashion and design.
Asus wants users to express their style, and the Zenfone 2 Deluxe features a new crystal like back cover in white and blue that should allow you to do just that.
The Zenfone Max presents a larger option and includes a massive 5,000mAh battery that can also be used as a battery bank. At IFA we’re fast learning that the ability to charge someone else’s phone is a great ice breaker, so Zenfone Max owners are sure to be popular for this feature alone.
If you love snapping photos quickly, the Zenfone 2 Laser offers laser auto focus, a technology that’s been gaining in popularity over the last couple of years and can focus in 0.2s.
Selfie fans are also catered for, while those who dislike the word “selfie” continue to look on from the sidelines with the Zenfone Selfie which has 13MP “PixelMaster” cameras on the front and back of the phone. If you’re a selfie aficionado you’ll also speculate the phones real-time beautification features, and panoramic selfie shot mode.
Finally, the Zenfone Zoom is perhaps the new phone that Asus is most proud of. It presents an attractive option for those of us who’ve previously held onto a hybrid Android-camera device, with a 13MP camera behind 10 lenses offering 3x genuine optical zoom (and up to 12x digital) with optical image stabilization included and the laser autofocus again makes an appearance.
There’s also impressive macro performance, and the Zoom can focus on subjects as little as 5cm from the camera. Asus’ presentation pitted the Zoom against an iPhone 6 Plus showing focus on a 20 Euro note, with great looking results. There’s also a Manual mode that gives you control over ISO, shutter speed and more.
The Zenfone Zoom is powered by an Intel Atom processor running at 2.4Ghz with 4GB of RAM inside a beautiful metal unibody construction
Pricing and availability weren’t offered for the new phones, and we’re yet to hear about Australian availability. We’ll also update with specs when we have them.
We’ll be checking the new phones out at Asus’ booth in the next few days, so if there’s something you’d like to know about them leave a comment below!

Asus is really going all out with all these new ZFs! The Zoom is easily the most interesting not just in their lineup but I think amongst all Android phones to date. Will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the Nokia 1020 and the current benchmark GS6 & G4. For the Zoom: How big is the battery? Is it rated as giving a full day or two days of battery life? How chunky is it? Weight? And of course can you take any sample shots? Hoping Asus does their usual of setting up demo areas to show… Read more »
