Motorola

We know you guys are keen to get hands-on with Motorola’s 2015 line-up, and we can’t really blame you. I’ve reviewed the Moto G (3rd Gen) not long ago, and loved it; it’s a great mid-range phone, and if we’re honest, it’s really more a match for the upper mid-range or lower top-tier handsets than most other mid-rangers. Anyway, it’s gorgeous, and the Moto X Play and Moto X Style are equally cool.

Having been able to spend a bit of time with those handsets, we can’t wait for you guys to be able to get hands-on with them too. Motorola had initially told us early September for a release date, but given today’s the 7th, it looks like things might be slipping just a little bit. We wanted to make sure that we weren’t going to see significant delays between announcement and launch, and fortunately Motorola have been able to put our minds to rest.

Motorola have confirmed that Vodafone is due to have stock of the Moto X Style and Moto X Play available for sale from mid-September, and retailers should have the Moto G (3rd Gen) in stock around the same time. In terms of reviews, the Moto G review is live, and the Moto X Play review will be next, with the Moto X Style to follow a little while after — so, if you’re not sold yet, keep an eye on Ausdroid and check out our upcoming reviews .. you’ll love these phones as much as we do.

Good to hear some news as I was wondering why I had not seen any more news or in stores. I just need to decide which one to get out of the G and the Play. Both have great batteries so I need to decide if the extra speed, screen resolution, camera MP and NFC are worth pay ~$200 more for.

It’s a struggle but I’m going to wait for the Snapdragon 820 and USB Type-C

I’ve already decided that I’m getting the Moto G 3rd Gen if the price of the new Nexus phones is too high…

I was impatient and purchased a moto x play on clove, I couldn’t resist that battery. The reports of lag are a bit over the top in my opinion, this phone feels smooth. I have a nexus 6 and oppo r7 to compare it to, it’s somewhere in the middle. It feels smoother than the r7. Screen isn’t as nice as the nexus 6 in my opinion, though seems brighter (so could possibly have better outdoor visibility?) still a very nice screen. I like the rubber/plastic back, feels nice, and adds grip. I’d rather a phone that feels secure and… Read more »

Thanks for the update. Was beginning to wonder when. Please give us your take on the recent-ish reports of the SD615 in the XP not being able to keep up with the 1080p screen resolution and lagging. Say it isn’t so!?

I want a Style. I want a Nexus. I want a Z5.
I only need one. And I know whatever I buy, I will regret that I can’t buy anything else.

How come you haven’t reported anything about the recent leaks regarding Moto X Force?

They did.

Andrew

Nice. I’ll probably look into one of these if the Nexus 5 or 6 fail to impress.

Thanks Chris

Ask about the new Moto 360 too…

Chris

See below; it’s coming but unknown when at this stage.

Do you know if Vodafone will be selling the Moto X Style outright from day one of release?

Chris

I expect they will be, yes.

Any news on availability of moto 360 v2 in Australia??

Chris

All we know at this stage is it’s coming; last we heard from Moto was a couple of days ago saying it’d definitely come here, but timing isn’t known yet.
