As the maker of some of the finest camera sensors in the world, it’s always been surprising that Sony has never really nailed the camera on their Xperia phones. 2015 seems to be the turning point for companies making camera phones and according to the team at DxOMark, 2015 is definitely Sony’s year when it comes to mobile photography with the site awarding the phone top honours.

DxOMark have awarded the Xperia Z5 a score of 87 besting the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edges score of 86. The Xperia Z5 is launching across Europe this week, and Australia soon, and this latest accolade certainly won’t hurt sales for Sony.

The DxOMark rating has focused on the Xperia Z5s excellent white balance and colour rendering as well as impressive, best-to-date tested autofocus. The flash and low-light performance were lauded as well, with good detail preservation noted and impressive image stabilisation which is ‘far ahead of the competition’.

Sony is having a launch event for the Xperia Z5 next week where we should get more hands-on time with the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact – the Xperia Z5 Premium should arrive soon after. We hope to see Australian pricing and plan information for the Xperia Z5 very soon.
