Google Transit
After showing up briefly for some users last week, Transit information for users in Victoria is now showing up broadly for all users on both mobile and on the web.

Transit information is showing up in Google Maps as well as Google Now cards, with information being supplied by PTV as shown in the Agency information. Information provided includes Train, Bus and Trams with stops, times and route numbers all showing up:

Mobile is of course a major part of using Google Transit information, but for desktop users transit directions are also showing up on the web.

It’s been a long road to getting this information to Victorians, but it’s finally here.

Have you used Google Transit in Victoria this morning? How was your experience?

Thanks: DPMattGrant.

Google map for iOS has more features like integration with calendar and widget for public transport information.

I don’t think it is accurate. The quickest way for me to get from home to Melbourne City is to walk to a bus stop, take a bus to Hallam Station and then catch a train on the Pakenham line. gMap tells me to take a different bus to Dandenong Station and then catch a train thus adding approx. 45 minutes to the travel. But a good start though.

Thanks for sharing the information. Finally got it in my phone! 🙂

This is great, and about time.

What changed to allow this to happen? The site where the data is available hasn’t been updated in a year. Google said it was the incorrect format, so did Google work with the wrong format or did the data change, but the site not reflect this?

Glad it’s working, just hope it remains that way, with updates.

Oh thank the lord!!! After moving to Melbourne late 2015 from Perth, I was horrified to learn that transit directions were provided by Google for Perth, but NOT Melbourne!!!
