It’s late this month, but Google has finally updated their Android Distribution Numbers this month, with Marshmallow making small gains in the lead up to the launch of Android Nougat.
Only the most recent versions of Android (6.0 and 5.1) made gains this month, with Lollipop version 5.1 growing to 20.8% and Marshmallow climbing to 13.3% of all Android devices running the Play Store. Across the board, except for hold out Froyo which remains statistically relevant at 0.1%, all other versions of Android lost market share.
While API levels are interesting, it would be good to get a comparison on Google’s security bulletin about how many are running the most up to date security patches. But I digress, for a full run down of how it looks, here’s a comparison to last months numbers:
Android Version | June | July |
Android 2.2 (Froyo) | 0.1% | 0.1% |
