We’ve known for a while that Blackberry have taken a bit of a shine to the Android operating system and that they are working on several phones to be released in the near future, but it seems thanks to an accidentally published page that we now know more.

Spotted by one of the eagle eyed Crackberry readers, the page donotpublish.html which has since been taken down was in fact published. The page confirmed the existence of the DTEK60 device which has the expected specs of the Argon that we heard about in July.

Here’s the specs that we saw:

  • 5.5″ 1440p display
  • Snapdragon 820
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 32GB of storage w/ microSD slot
  • 21MP rear-facing camera w/ 4K30 video
  • 8MP front-facing camera w/ f/2.2 aperture
  • 3000mAh battery w/ QC3.0
  • USB Type-C
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • Convenience Key
  • 153.9 x 75..4 x 7mm

There’s no images, not even blurrycam stuff out there of the phone as yet but that’s sure to come very soon.

Is the switch to Android going to help Blackberry, or are they all but finished in the mobile market?

I think it likely that the release of a dtek 60 if it does have those specs and so long as it is 5.5 inch or greater then this will turn the corner for the hardware side of things. It would I think have to be manufactured in house otherwise it may fail. As a BB10 user, the main thing about the phone is build quality for my interest to be piqued. BB WITHOUT QUESTION, MAKE GREAT PHONES.
