YouTube has been a big driver in the push for 360-degree and Virtual Reality content and they’re working to bring more in the form of live performances and music videos in VR, first cab off the rank is a new six-minute animated film – titled “Saturnz Barz (Spirit House)” from British virtual band Gorillaz.
First formed in 1998 by the lead singer of Blur, Damon Albarn and comic artist Jamie Hewlett the band has been producing hits since they dropped their first single Clint Eastwood. Gorillaz is a virtual band, with the members of the band made up of characters rather than musicians with real-life musicians jumping in to fulfill roles.
The animated film release contains four tracks from their forthcoming album “Humanz.” which drops on April 28th. The tracks included are “Saturnz Barz” which is played in full, and you also get highlights of “Ascension,” “Andromeda” and “We Got The Power.”
The video runs for just shy of 6 minutes, it’s a pretty cool video as their previous releases have been. You can use a Cardboard headset to watch it in full 360. Check it out:
