Free or discounted, we love trying out new apps and this week we have some good ones, although if you’ve been around Android long enough you’ve probably already tried out Camera ZOOM FX Premium, in which case you can try out Out There: Ω Edition a sci-fi themed game, or Chameleon Run for something really challenging.

Google Play App Deal of the Week

Camera ZOOM FX Premium

If you’re not happy with the current camera app on your phone, then Camera Zoom FX Premium is probably a good contender to check out.

A mainstay of Android fans since the early days of Android, Camera Zoom FX Premium has been keeping up with Android Camera features and pushing the envelope for some time. The latest iteration, version 6, includes full support for Camera API 2 which includes full manual DSLR controls and RAW capture.

There’s a great array of features including being one of the fastest camera apps on the market. There’s all sorts of stuff included, including the option to combine shooting modes (i.e timer + hdr, stable + timelapse) and you can set a number of camera settings like ISO, focus distance, exposure and shutter speed (requires Lollipop or above).

For 20c, this app is a bargain, and if I hadn’t picked it up years ago, I’d pay for it all over again. Head over to Google Play to grab it while it’s on-sale.

Google Play Game Deal of the Week

Out There: Ω Edition

Want a space adventure game to play? Why not check out Out There: Ω Edition, the game deal of the week in Google Play.

A hard sci-fi game with a killer soundtrack from composer Siddhartha Barnhoorn (Antichamber, The Stanley Parable), you’ll find the game has a brooding, melancholic tone. It also sounds exciting from the description:

You are an astronaut awaking from cryonics not in the solar system, but… out there… in a far and unknown place of the galaxy. In Out There, you will have to survive, tinkering your ship with what you can gather drifting in the void, and spot garden planets to refill your oxygen supply.
Space is an hostile place ; dangerous and mysterious adventures will mark each step of your travel. You will not only meet intelligent species that won’t care about you, but also deal with ancient powers linked to your destiny and the fate of mankind itself.

Survival and understanding of what is really at stake in the galaxy is the core of what Out There has to offer.

The game is jam packed with over 350 multiple choice decisions with 4 different endings. You can make different technologies from different alien materials.

Out There: Ω Edition includes 59 achievements in Google Play Games and a leaderboard to check out your position against other players and your friends.

If Out There: Ω Edition tickles your fancy, then head over to Google Play and grab it now.

Google Play Free app of the Week

Chameleon Run

The free app of the week is a pretty interesting one, with autorunner Chameleon Run discounted to FREE for a few days.

The game is a visual feast with the track you’re running on bright, and it’s for a reason, you have to match your colour to the ground you’re running on. Jump, switch colours, all while running through a challenging track in the hope of making it to the end.

The game is simple, with two button controls, and you simply glide through each level with three special objectives in each level.

Fun, visually pleasing, it looks like a winner and how can you argue with Free. Google still won’t let you see the Free App of the Week, but you can still grab it by heading to Google Play.

I bought Camera zoom FX and a bunch of FX when they were cheap a few years ago. Then proceeded to never use it.
