Samsung Pay lines up ANZ as another payment partner

Hot off the news of a new partnership with PayPal, Samsung Australia has announced that ANZ has joined the ranks of financial institutions offering their customers the option to use Samsung Pay.

Samsung Pay is of course Samsungs’ own mobile payments platform which lets you Tap & Pay with your phone at almost any terminal. Samsung has the benefit of allowing payments at non-NFC enabled terminals through Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST), opening payments to a wider range of terminals than competing payments systems.

Richard Fink, Vice President, IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics Australia believes Samsung Pay is a secure system with added convenience for the customer saying

We believe the convenience, security and choice that Samsung Pay offers is helping to transform the way Australians undertake everyday tasks when transacting. ANZ customers can now benefit from Samsung Pay’s unique features, such as our three-layered security system, and can enjoy using the service anywhere you can pay with a contactless credit or debit card.

ANZ customers will be able take advantage of Samsung Pays additional technology on their compatible Samsung device including the Gear S3 and recently released Galaxy S8/S8+. ANZ customers can add their eligible Visa debit or credit card as a payment method to Samsung Pay from today.

ANZ now has the one of the widest selection of payment methods of almost any bank in Australia and is definitely the largest bank so far. ANZ now offers their customers access to Android Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, as well as their own in-house Tap & Pay solution. ANZ’s decision to add Samsung Pay as another option is driven strongly by customer demand, and ANZ’s willingness to let the customer choose. ANZ Managing Director Product, Bob Belan said

At ANZ, we believe our customers are best placed to make their own choices about which digital wallet works best for them. From today, our customers can now choose to make purchases using their compatible Samsung device and eligible ANZ Visa debit or credit cards.

Samsung Pay is now available to be used with over 40 payment card brands. The payments platform also allows the use of loyalty cards to be added in, with over 100 different types of card now supported.
