The long awaited first 4G enabled smart watch, the Huawei Watch 2 is now available from Vodafone in Australia.

The watch is available for purchase over 12, 24 or 36 months with a $10 per month ‘Red Wearable Plan’. The plan is a month-to-month plan based on the new plan options announced today, if you leave you 100% of the remaining watch instalments will be applied to your next bill. This of course means you can’t simply buy the watch, you have to buy a months worth of access as well.

The Red Wearable Plan includes 1GB of data and unlimited talk and text to standard national numbers in line with the 4G connectivity of the watch. The data is pooled with any other Vodafone plans you have attached to your account, so you shouldn’t need too much additional data, but it’s available if you decide to add it.

The watch will cost $49.92 per month on a 12 month plan, $24.96 per month on a 24 month plan, or $16.64 per month on a 36 month plan with a total min cost of $609.04 for the watch itself.

As Australia’s first 4G connected smart watch, the Huawei Watch 2 offers you almost unlimited freedom. You can make and receive calls or text from the watch as well as connect to mobile data for all your Android Wear 2.0 apps, making it a perfect mobile companion if you want to go out for a run, ride or exercise or simply want to head out on the town for a night without your phone.

In terms of exercise the Huawei Watch 2 includes a host of sensors including heart rate monitor and GPS so you can track distance travelled, speed, steps, heart rate, calories, and gait.

In terms of how the watch handles in the real world, despite some issues Chris likes the Huawei Watch 2 and you can read all about it in his review.

This got me thinking… Why does Hangouts (or any of the other messengers) not support voice calling on Wear?!

    That would be pretty handy.

Does anybody know if Orange is available from VF? They don’t specifically mention colour choice on their website.
