Google has unveiled Android 8.0 and it’s Oreo – named they say after the most popular cookie in the world. That’s possibly debatable, but the Oreo statue is quite possibly one of the coolest we’ve seen so far.

The statue is a super hero style, created as usual by Giovanni Calabrese of Themendous in New York who has created all the Android statues to date. Themendous shared pictures of the statue on their Twitter account before the unveiling.

That statue is appearing on the Google campus right now, as seen in this tweet from partner technology manager Tako Hisada

But, there appears to be a different one which was unveiled in the live-stream Google put on in New York, with a different finish and shape which can be seen in the full unveil video can be viewed here. The reveal didn’t quite go according to plan, but it was revealed in the end:

You can check out the Android statue garden and the rest of the Googleplex from when Scott and I visited earlier this year, right here.
