After announcing the upcoming LG V30 would support Quad Digital to Analogue Converter (Quad DAC) last week, LG has today taken the wraps off more details on the audio features of the V30.

According to Joon-ho Cho, president of LG’s Mobile Communications business, ‘We will make LG’s premium sound, which is recognized by world experts, easy and convenient for everyone to enjoy.’

The phone will, like many LG handsets before it, have great audio capabilities. The Quad DAC allows for great sound, but the software will play a key role in the performance with LG announcing the V30 will be the first smartphone to support Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) specification. MQA is a compression codec which allows for high quality audio with a smaller data use.

The sound on the LG V30 will be tuned by B & O Play, with four sound presets – balanced, vivid, realistic, and bass enhancement – which can be enabled with ‘one-touch access’. The sound profiles will also be complemented by digital filters.

The ‘Digital Filter’ allows you to adjust the reverberation of the sound to optimize the sound genre. You can use ‘Slow’ to emphasize strong bass and bass such as rock or hip hop to reduce the reverberation to the minimum, ‘Reverberation’ You can choose one of three things, such as ‘Sharp’, which is optimized to enhance the balance and enjoy the soft melodies of classical music.

LG will also improve the audio recording functions of the V30 with an auxiliary microphone designed to handle louder sounds without distortion. This should make the next video you take at a concert turn out a little better, at least in terms of that washed out sound. The auxiliary mic will also be used for hands-free phone calls for better clarity.

The LG V30 will be unveiled later this week prior to the start of IFA in Berlin, Germany. You can tune into the live-stream of the announcement through the LG YouTube channel and Facebook page from 5pm on Thursday night.
