Aldi Special Buys every week are always a source of excitement with new gear every week. Next Saturday, the 16th of September, Aldi will be having another of their Tech related special buys offering a Quadcopter, VR headset, 65″ UHD TV, Laptop and Sony Cybershot Camera.
Voyager Quadcopter
The Quadcopter is the Cocoon branded ‘Voyager’, offering a 6-axis gyroscope for stable flight as well as some neat stunt tricks like 360-degree flips. It also comes with a 640×480 camera for remote viewing on your Android or iOS phone or tablet so you can record your flight.
Flight time is around about 6-7 minutes and has a 45-metre range, not bad for a drone that costs $79.99. Sure, you can order one in from China, but this is local 1-year warranty, and with a drone, you probably want that.
Though it’s not live yet, you should be able to find out more at cocoonvoyager.com.au when that site goes live.
Cocoon Virtual Reality Headset
Also up in the Tech Buys is another Cocoon branded device, with the Cocoon Virtual Reality Headset for $29.99. Ideal for iOS or Android Phones from 4″ to 6″, this Google Cardboard compatible headset has ultra-plush padding for extended wear, a headphone jack and a built-in magnetic button for actions in software.
Bauhn 65″ UHD TV
Coming up will also be a 65″ UHD TV from Bauhn. Like most TV’s they’ve had at Aldi, this won’t be a ‘Smart’ TV with a host of apps available. What it will have is a digital tuner, a screen that can display up to 3840×2160 (You know, UHD resolution) with a 4000:1 contrast ratio and can both record TV using a PVR function, or play back video, picture and music files on a connected external USB device.
From all the specs, it appears to be the model listed on the Bauhn website, so if you want a closer look you can head over there to take a look. If you’re sold, you can grab one on the 16th of September for just $797 – but like most well priced TVs it may sell out, so get in early.
Unisurf 14″ Laptop
We’re normally all about Android, but a $222 laptop is something you really have to think about. The Windows 10 laptop comes with a 14″ 1366×768 resolution display and has an Intel Quad Core Processor, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of on-board storage (with a microSD card expansion) under the hood. It also comes with a front-facing webcam and of course Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The battery will reportedly last from 6-8 hours on a charge.
Not many more specs available on this one except it has a microHDMI port, an audio input (microphone we’re guessing), 2x USB ports (sorry, no info on speed) and comes with a 1-year warranty.
You can check it out on the Unisurf website and as with any tech deal from Aldi, head in-store to get one quickly as they usually run out of stock quite easily.
Aldi will also have a Sony Cybershot digital camera available, although we haven’t been able to track down any details as yet, but we’ll update when the Aldi website adds some details. If you want to take advantage of any of these deals, you’ll need to get into an Aldi store next Saturday the 16th of September.
That VR headset is the oldie version using the deprecated magnetic button, rather than the newer screen press type. It’s also a bit expensive for what it is, and you looked at it last year, when it was also on sale.
Pop an SSD into that lappy and you’re on an everyday winner.
I’d imagine that he 32GB will be soldered to the motherboard and won’t be replaceable, otherwise, yeah, it’d be a bargain, get rid of Windows 10 and put something like Xubuntu on there and it’d be great for normal web browsing.
