At IFA earlier this year Samsung announced much-needed updates to their fitness watch lineup, the Gear Fit2 Pro and the Gear Sport. At the time there was no indication of when they would arrive Downunder but now it seems that one is here and the other is imminent.
Gear Fit2 Pro
The Fear Fit2 Pro is an upgrade on the Gear Fit2 and once again promises to be near the top of the fitness tracker ladder. It has a 1.5 inch AMOLED display with 310ppi resolution and a Gorilla Glass 3 covering. The watch is “swim resistant” and has partnerships with Under Armour and Speedo for workout tracking. It runs Tizen but if it is anywhere as good as its predecessor it will be great. The Gear Fit2 is the best fitness tracker/watch I have ever used and the Gear Fit2 Pro seems to be a very similar watch.
The Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro is available now in black and black with a red lining from Samsung’s website or from your favourite retailer for a RRP of $329.
Gear Sport
The Gear Sport is a new addition to Samsung’s fitness tracker lineup and features a traditional-looking/shaped watchface with rotating bezel (similar to the Gear S watches). It has a 1.2 inch circular SuperAMOLED display, also protected with Gorilla Glass 3 and uses standard 20mm bands that are interchangeable. Running Tizen, it also includes NFC and supports Samsung Pay.
The Gear Sport is only available for pre-order at the moment but is shipping on November 1. It is available in blue and black colours and can be pre-ordered from their website for $499.
We hope to have these on hand soon for testing but if you’ve had your eyes on of these now there is no time like the present to go and grab one or pre-order to receive it ASAP.
News Tip: Samsung Australia now offering 20% off Gear Sport pre-order when adding a card/loyalty card to Samsung Pay – that’s $80 off.
It is actually $100.00 off
Why is the Gear Sport so expensive in Australia Samsung ???
On the AU website the device is $499 AUD
On the US website the device is $299 USD = ($380AUD)
Plus in the USA you get Spotify integration AND 6 months free membership!!
As usual, we get screwed in Australia. Thank you Samsung…
