Every year, more than 160 million drink containers end up as litter in NSW, hurting our environment and costing our community more than $162 million to clean up. For this, the NSW Government has announced the Return and Earn container deposit scheme, which is rolling out state-wide from 1 December 2017. Now you can do your bit for the environment by returning eligible containers for a 10 cent refund at hundreds of collection points and reverse vending machines across NSW.
TOMRA Cleanaway Reverse Vending Machines (a new technology for Australia) will become operational across the state and members of the public will receive 10c back for every bottle or can returned empty, uncrushed and with the label intact.
Using the myTOMRA app, developed by Return and Earn network operator TOMRA Cleanaway, users are able to transfer refunds obtained to PayPal when eligible drink containers are returned to TOMRA reverse vending machines across NSW. The free myTOMRA app is available now on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
This is a great initiative of the NSW Environmental Protection Authority, and this app makes it even easier for users of the service to obtain their refunds in an easy-to-use way.
