Staying at a hotel can be a frustrating experience when it comes to watching TV, or movies. Their in-house entertainment systems often haven’t been updated for decades and input access is often blocked. That’s why it’s pleasing to see you get Android TV in your room when you stay at the Sofitel Darling Harbour & the newly renovated Ibis King Street Wharf hotels in Sydney.
The hotels, owned by the Schwartz Family Company, have updated their in-room and conference facilities with a combination of Android TV enabled Sony Pro Bravia 7000 series 4K panels and 8000 series 4K panels.
The Schwartz Family Company wanted to create a point of difference with the Sony Pro Bravia panels, with Sustainability and Projects Manager, Paul Briggs Briggs saying
There is very limited 4K availability within hotels to date, and with our corporate and conference guests needing to use the panels for presentations and other work-oriented projects, and with our leisure guests wanting to broadcast Netflix and other applications to the screen, we needed to ensure that our TV technology could meet these requirements. The Sony TVs have many features that our guests would be used to at home and in a ‘smart’ era, our panels need to mirror the expectations of our guests.
Models range in size from 43″ all the way up to the 55″ KD55X70000PSDE model being used throughout both the hotels. All of the panels run Android TV and support Chromecast functionality, allowing guests to cast Netflix or other content or applications to the panels.
It looks like I’ll be trying to stay at one of these hotels on my next visit to Sydney. How about you?
