After announcing standalone Daydream View headsets at Google I/O last year, Lenovo and Google have today unveiled the Mirage Solo.
Unlike the Google Daydream View headsets, the Mirage Solo operates independently of your phone. The hardware is top notch with a 5.5″ QHD resolution LCD panel, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage (microSD card slot too) under the hood, all powered by a 4,000mAh battery that Lenovo says will give you up to 7 hours of battery life.
The headset utilises ‘WorldSense’, which uses two cameras on the front of the headset to track the users movement in space, allowing it to track both head and body movements to let you lean, dodge or duck as well as step backwards, forwards or side to side through space in Virtual Reality.
Just like the Daydream View headset from Google, the Lenovo Mirage Solo will ship with a standalone controller as well, though the headset itself apparently has controls on it as well.
According to Google, the Lenovo Mirage Solo will enter the market in Q2 this year, but at this stage no pricing has been announced. We’ll be reaching out to Google and Lenovo about local release information for Australia.
