The 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea is just weeks away from beginning and the official app for the games is available to download in Google Play.
The app was updated last week, and is available to devices running Android 4.4 and above, offering all the latest news for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games. The app is, at the moment anyway concentrating on the Olympic Torch Relay with information on the daily route and celebrations, as well as live streaming of the relay itself.
Once the games kick off on the 9th of February though it will offer the schedule for the events, information about the athletes and venues. You’ll also be able to customise the app, concentrating on your preferred sports (Ice Dancing?), or on a single nations events.
The app itself is pretty well designed, you select your language to start with (English or Korean I think), your local time and then you can select whether you want to receive notifications. The relay is the real focus at the moment but you can check on the schedule for the upcoming events for both the Olympics and Paralympics which run from 8th of March to 18th of March.
The PyeongChang 2018 Official App is powered by Samsung, the official Wireless Communications Equipment and Computing Equipment partner for the games who are also supplying over 4,000 special edition Galaxy Note 8 smartphones for competitors, as well as IOC and POCOG staff.
For those on the ground in PyeongChang, you’ll be able to get information on the even including transportation, accommodation and local events.
If you’re a fan of the winter sports then this is a pretty decent way to follow along with the games so check it out as a free download in Google Play now.
