The Nokia 8 is getting even more attractive by the day, with a price drop today and now you can also get the latest version of Android on the device with Android 8.1 now rolling out.
The announcement has been made by HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas on his Twitter account which has become the place to keep up with the pace of Android updates for Nokia handsets.

Replies to Mr Sarvikas’ tweet show that there are users already receiving the 1.5GB update. The update screenshot shows that the update includes Battery Saving Navigation Buttons, Revamped Power Menu, New Settings Menu and Bluetooth Battery Percentage, as well as the latest February 2018 security patch to ensure the latest bugs are patched.
HMD Global has been uniquely commited to updating their Nokia branded Android devices, promising all devices including the lower end Nokia 3, will receive both feature and security updates for 2 years.
The Nokia 8 has been discounted to just $599 at JB Hifi and Harvey Norman for a limited time, and with Android 8.1 now available for download this is making a great case for choosing a Nokia for your next handset.
Update only came through for me yesterday (27 April). Hardly the “Pure Android” that Nokia talk about.
Been on the 8.1 beta for a few weeks now.
Smashing the ‘Check for Update’ button every few hours…
‘Your system is up to date’… No joy for me
