Since being launched along with the Google Pixel 2 phones last year, Lens has been growing in both functionality and reach. Today, Google has announced a couple of new features are going live in the Photos app – but they may not be quite ready yet.

The announcement from the Google Photos Twitter account, says that you’ll soon be able to create a contact from a business card, and get information about landmarks you’ve photographed:

After a few trials it appears that the feature isn’t quite live for most phones – though it does work on the Pixel phones. We’ve done some tests on the HTC U11, OnePlus 5T and Note 8 with all three failing, despite having the latest version (3.15.0.187517307) of Google Photos installed.

The function is pretty neat, though depending on the font of the business card it may be a bit hit and miss. If you’re on a Pixel try it now if you have the latest version of Google Photos, or if you’re on any other device you may just have to wait a little longer.

I noticed this today on my Moto g5+. Had a pic of the back of a box and it gave me a text selection/OCR of it. Worked pretty good
