As part of their ‘Special Buys’ this week, Aldi is bringing another Android tablet back, this time a 7″ model for $79.

The tablet, which has no branding on it, goes on-sale this Saturday the 24th of March for $79. There’s no mention of it on the Medion or Bauhn websites, so it’s not theirs – so you’ll have to check it out when it pops up in-store on Saturday.

It’s not the highest spec device ever brought to market so you’d be forgiven for skipping this one. The hardware isn’t the only issue here, it’s also only running Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) – and is unlikely to ever see either feature or security updates. Still, it’s $79, so what do you get for you money?

  • 7″ 1024×600 resolution LCD display
  • 1.3GHz RK3126 quad core CPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB on-board storage with microSD card slot up to 32GB
  • 0.3MP camera on front and rear
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 (Yes, 2.1…)
  • 8Ω/1W speaker
  • Android 6.0

There’s sure to be some flurry over these tablets at your local Aldi this Saturday, so if you’re in the market head over to their website to check it out.

Why would you say it is junk? Its a case of horses for courses, don’t you think? Whilst a tablet with these specifications may not be suitable for your use or mine, at the price, they are perfect for older people such as my parents and/or in-laws who simply want a device to stream overseas radio and/or occasionally use YouTube for music. They don’t use the devices for email, Internet or readers. With Australia’s aging population, you may find there are a lot of people in this boat than you think.

    Its fine for kids.
