GIFs are so hot right now. They’re actually a lot of fun too, and Google is hoping to improve their ability to help people find, and share GIFs by announcing the acquisition of Tenor.

Tenor is the company behind a massively successful GIF keyboard that was available first on iOS and then Android which attracted over 300 million users in 2017.

Google has announced that Tenor will continue to operate as a separate brand, though they will be ‘looking forward to investing in their technology and relationships with content and API partners’. As well, Google will be adopting some of their technology to improve search in ‘Google Images as well as other products that use GIFs, like Gboard’.
