Motorola is set to unveil their 2018 range at some stage, and the day for the announcement of the Moto Z3 Play is one step closer with the phone heading through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for certification.

The submission to the FCC of Motorola device carrying model # XT1929, includes a number of details hitherto unknown, including that the phone will have 4GB of RAM, as well as a choice between 32GB or 64GB of on-board storage. The dimensions of the phone (156.23×76.7mm) are also included in the submission, as is the diagonal screen of 155.4mm (6.1″).

Other hardware that could be inside the Z3 Play includes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor and a dual-camera setup on the rear with 12MP + 8MP sensors, and a 5 MP camera for selfies. The Z3 Play is expected to have a 3000 mAh battery, and run Android Oreo.

No release date for the phone has been rumoured, though in their recent blog post announcing the new Motorola president, they said

We’re excited for what 2018 (and beyond!) is going to bring us and look forward to sharing our first products of the year with you next month!

Time will tell, but the Moto Z series of phones and their modular add-ons have been a bit of a winner for us here at Ausdroid. We’re looking forward to seeing what they have to announce.
