It seems that OnePlus have slowly leaked and built up the expectations for their next flagship release with precision but when it was to actually be announced was still a mystery. Today we finally have a date for the release of one of the most awaited phone releases of 2018, but it’s not for a few weeks.
Today OnePlus have sent out emails to fans with details of when and how to sign up and purchase tickets to the releases of the OnePlus 6. Firstly there is an event at 5pm on the 16th May at the Copper Box Arena in London and a few hours later at 10am local time 17th May in Beijing. Finishing up with be an event at Mumbai, 3pm local time on the 17th of May.
We first thought the OnePlus 6 would be announced at around the same time as the release of the new Avengers movie with a special edition Avengers phone so this is a surprise. We wonder if the Avengers hype will still be around for the release of their special edition — but then the Avengers are always in.
The phone is set to be available from May 21 for Indians from Amazon India but having purchased a OnePlus 5T from there last year it isn’t that difficult to purchase from there, although the mail forwarding situation isn’t as easy. OnePlus are set to sell the phone from their website as usual into other countries and also through carriers in the UK. It would not surprise me if this phone continues to propel OnePlus towards the top end of the Android manufacturers.
OnePlus have made taken some giant steps in recent times and their products are at a maturity where the finish of their products is up there with the best of them. The OnePlus 6 is promising to be a phone that will compete with the other high end flagships in the wild — well, OnePlus are promising it. It does house a Snapdragon 845, up to 8GB of RAM and possibly 128-256GB of onboard storage and runs a lightly skinned barebones version of Android so it should live up to its hype.
Here at Ausdroid we are excited for the release of this phone and hope to get our hands on it not long after its release. Although we do not expect it to be sold directly into Australia there will always be grey market importers or mail forwarders to get your OnePlus 6 fix.
you could get it sooner from the US via package forwarding services like usdelivered.com or muus.com
