Google I/O is all about helping developers create great products for and using Google services and apps. The now yearly Google Play Awards is an event that is used to show off the very creme de la creme of the best apps created. Ahead of Google I/O, the Awards were held and winners announced across a range of categories.

There were nine awards handed out this year across a number of categories, with one winner an Australian developer, but we’ll get to that – so, without further ado, the winners are…:

The Australian winner was of course Canva, built by Sydney based developer Melanie Perkins (@melaniecanva).
