The new features for Google Lens announced earlier this month at Google I/O have begun to arrive for a small number of users with a new UI also showing up.
The new features announced at I/O include the impressive ‘Smart Text Selection’ or as we like to call it: real world copy and paste, as well as Style Match and Realtime Results have begun showing up for some users according to a report over on 9to5Google.
The new features are showing up with a new UI that does away with the old prompts to ‘Remember this’, ‘Import to Keep’, and ‘Share’, with new cards that show what Lens is capable of doing. The new cards show that Lens is capable of identifying Text, Products, Books & Media, Places, and Barcodes.
The new features have only been reported to be live on a few devices, and appears to be enabled by a server side switch rather than an app update.
The expansion of Google Lens features is also wrapped up with the expansion of Google Lens to more devices with Google announcing that Lens would soon be expanding to the new LG G7 and also phones from Motorola, Xiaomi, Sony Mobile, Nokia, Transsion, TCL, OnePlus, BQ and Asus.
It’s only available to a select few at the moment, but the features appear to be quite useful and we can’t wait to check them out ourselves.
Have you received the new Google Lens UI and features?
Hi Daniel,
I received this upgrade yesterday to my Pixel 2 XL.
Cheers
